Exalted at the Right Hand of God
Acts 2:32–33

BibleProject — Tim Mackie and Jon Collins' biblical literacy platform, whose visual exploration of the ascension, the session at the right hand, and Pentecost as three acts of one movement helps readers understand what 'exalted' actually means.
ὑψωθείς
hupsŏtheis · Greek NT“exalted / lifted up / raised to the highest place”
hupsoŏ (to lift up, to exalt) carries both the idea of physical elevation and of honor and authority. John uses it of the crucifixion (3:14, 12:32—'lifted up'); Acts uses it of the ascension and enthronement. The same verb links cross and throne: the exaltation begins at the cross and culminates at the Father's right hand.
Peter's Pentecost sermon connects three events in one movement: resurrection, ascension, and the pouring out of the Spirit. The Spirit's arrival is not a separate event—it is the proof of Christ's enthronement. Because Jesus is exalted at the right hand of the Father, the promised Spirit has been poured out on all flesh.
BibleProject helps readers see that 'the right hand of God' is the seat of authority and executive power—Christ is not absent but actively ruling. The Spirit is not a substitute for Christ's absence; He is the presence of the enthroned Christ mediating the life of the new creation. Today, you live under the reign of the exalted Jesus.
