Worthy Is the Lamb

Revelation 5:9–10 (Greek NT / ESV) καὶ ᾄδουσιν ᾠδὴν καινήν λέγοντες· Ἄξιος εἶ λαβεῖν τὸ βιβλίον… ὅτι ἐσφάγης καὶ ἠγόρασας τῷ θεῷ ἐν τῷ αἵματί σου ἐκ πάσης φυλῆς καὶ γλώσσης καὶ λαοῦ καὶ ἔθνους And they sang a new song, saying, 'Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.'

“you ransomed / you purchased”

agorazŏ means to buy in the marketplace—the verb of redemption. The Lamb purchases people from every ethnicity and language not with silver or gold but with His own blood. The breadth—'every tribe, language, people, nation'—signals that the new covenant community crosses all human boundaries.
