Revelation 12:7–9 (Greek NT / ESV) Καὶ ἐγένετο πόλεμος ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ· ὁ Μιχαὴλ καὶ οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτοῦ τοῦ πολεμῆσαι μετὰ τοῦ δράκοντος Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

“accuser”

The dragon is identified in v.10 as 'the accuser of our brothers.' katēgoros is the legal opponent in court—the one who lodges charges. Satan's primary activity in the unseen realm is prosecutorial accusation before God. Christ's atoning work silences the prosecution once and for all.
