They Conquered Him
Revelation 12:11
Pleasant Springs Church • ps-church.com
E. Stanley Jones — Methodist missionary, author of The Christ of the Indian Road and Abundant Living, whose testimony-centered ministry across India modeled the exact pattern of victory this verse describes.
ἐνίκησαν
enikēsan · Greek NT“they conquered / they overcame”
nikaŏ (to conquer, to overcome) is Revelation's victory verb, used throughout the letters to the seven churches. The aorist tense marks a decisive past victory—they have already conquered. The three means of conquest are cumulative: Christ's atoning blood, their personal testimony, and willingness to die rather than recant.
Conquest over the accuser is not passive—it involves three active elements: the blood of the Lamb (what Christ did), the word of their testimony (what the believer declares), and willingness to lay down their life (the ultimate surrender of self-preservation). Together they form the complete pattern of overcoming.
Jones lived among those who paid a real cost for their testimony about Christ. He learned that the word of testimony has power precisely because it is spoken at cost. Your story of what Christ has done for you is not a minor contribution to Kingdom work—it is a weapon of conquest. Who needs to hear your testimony today?
