What God Really Wants
It’s not about looking good — it’s about being kind!
🎯 The Big Idea
God doesn’t just want us to look like we love Him — He wants us to show it by being kind, sharing, and helping others!
🎭 The Story: The Pretend Show
Imagine you’re at school and your teacher says, “Be nice to each other today!” So you smile real big when the teacher is watching. But when she turns around, you grab your friend’s snack and say mean words. Are you really being nice? No way! You’re just pretending.
A long time ago, God’s people were doing the same thing. They would go to church, pray really loud, and skip meals to show God how serious they were (that’s called fasting). But then they would go home and be mean to their workers, argue with their neighbors, and ignore people who were hungry.
God saw through the pretending. And He said through a man named Isaiah:

“This is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned… Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them.” — Isaiah 58:6–7

God doesn’t want a big show. He wants us to:

Like giving away a coat to someone who’s cold

Use Kind Words
No gossip, no mean talk — words that build up!

Stand Up for Others
When someone is being bullied, be brave and help!
Jesus said the same thing! He told people: don’t just pray to look cool — pray because you love God. Don’t give to show off — give because you care.

🤔 Think About It!
- Have you ever been nice just because someone was watching? What happened?
- What’s one kind thing you could do this week that nobody else would even see?
- Why do you think God cares more about what’s in our heart than what we look like on the outside?
✨ Activity: The Inside-Out Heart
Fold a piece of paper in half. On the outside, draw a person who looks happy and good. On the inside, draw or write what God actually sees — kindness, sharing, helping, and love. Talk about how God sees the inside, not just the outside!

“Dear God, I don’t want to just look good on the outside. Help me to really care about people — to share, to be kind, and to help those who are hurting. Let my heart match my actions. Amen.”
