Why We Need Jesus
A lesson about how one bad choice changed everything — and how God made it right
🎯 The Big Idea
Adam and Eve’s mistake hurt the whole world — but Jesus came to fix what was broken!
🌳 The Story: The Garden Choice
A long, long time ago, God made the most amazing garden you can imagine. There were animals everywhere — friendly lions, colorful birds, and funny monkeys. Everything was perfect. No one was sick. No one was sad. No one was scared.
God put two people in this garden: Adam and Eve. He told them, “You can eat from any tree you want — except that one.” Just one rule! That’s like having a whole candy store and your mom says, “You can have anything except that one piece on the top shelf.”
But a sneaky snake tricked Eve. He said, “Go ahead, it’ll be fine.” So Eve ate the fruit, and Adam ate it too. And suddenly… everything changed. The world got broken. People started getting hurt, getting sick, and feeling sad. Their bad choice messed things up for everyone who came after them — including us!
📖 Bible Verse (NLT)
“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone.” — Romans 5:12
❤️ The Good News: God Had a Plan!
Here’s the amazing part: God wasn’t surprised! He already had a plan. He was going to send someone to fix everything Adam broke. That someone was Jesus.
Think of it like this: Imagine you accidentally broke your friend’s favorite toy. You feel terrible! You can’t un-break it. But then someone really smart and kind comes along and says, “Don’t worry — I can fix it, and I’ll make it even better than before.” That’s what Jesus did for the whole world!
📖 Bible Verse (NLT)
“For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule… But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of being made right with God through this one man, Jesus Christ.” — Romans 5:17
🤔 Think About It!
- Have you ever done something wrong that you couldn’t undo? How did that feel?
- If God already knew Adam and Eve would mess up, why did He let them choose? (Hint: God loves giving us real choices!)
- How does it make you feel to know that Jesus can fix what’s broken in the world?
✨ Activity: The Broken and Fixed Heart
Cut out a big paper heart. Tear it in half — that’s what sin does to our world. Now tape it back together and decorate it with the word JESUS. The heart still shows the crack, but it’s whole again. That’s what Jesus does for us!
🙏 Let’s Pray!
“Dear God, thank You that even when things get broken, You can fix them. Thank You for sending Jesus to make everything right. Help me to trust You even when things are hard. Amen.”
Memory Verse
“God’s wonderful grace and his gift of being made right.”
Romans 5:17 (NLT)
